Stephen Ministers

The Stephen Ministry Mission is an on-going committed Christian Lay Ministry in accordance with God-given talents to practice servanthood in a listening, caring, one-on-one Holy Spirit inspired support system for those experiencing stressful times.

This is a confidential ministry: those receiving care can be sure that their identity and what goes on in the caring relationship will remain private.

* A caring Christian desiring to offer talents and support in times of need. * The person in need may call the Ministry themselves, or
* A sharing Christian bringing self as a partner in another's stressful life experience. * Another person may call on behalf of a person in need. This REQUIRES THE PERMISSION OF THE PERSON IN NEED. This is to be certain that total confindentiality is maintained. .
* A trained Christian with caregiving skills developed through intensive coursework. * The Stephen Leader meets with the person to talk about the Stephen Ministry.
* A dedicated Christian commissioned by our Church to confidntial, in-depth caring. * With the person's permission, the Stephen Leader assigns a Stephen Minister to meet on a weekly basis with the person.
    * The Stephen Minister continues to provide distinctively Christian care for the person with strict confidentiality.

The Stephen Ministers are not counslors or therapist. They are not trained problem solvers.

They do visit weekly, listen, and care.

Someone who needs a Stephen Minister does not have to be a certain age. It is for anyone who might feel that their problems are out of control, life events are confusing, God's presence is doubted, pain or hurt is present, lifestyle changes, homebound, loss, depression, acute illness, loneliness or anyone who needs someone to listen to them.
